On May 2, 2019, Lorenc+Yoo Design principals Chung Youl Yoo and Jan Lorenc along with Barbara Rose sponsored the Richard John Livingston Martin Humanitarian Design Award. Named after Richard Martin, former professor of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, the award is given annually to deserving individuals that have taken a humanitarian approach to their design.
This prestigious award honors Martin, a beloved professor whose main focus and dedication was to his students. The award sports excellence in humanitarian design at Georgia Tech’s School of Industrial Design. It recognizes design that improves the human condition with innovative design.
This year’s prizes were awarded to the following projects and individuals:
1st Place: Mpulse MedBase (Katherine Dabbs, Ken Kirtland, Dylan Fealtman, Libby Hennington, Tayler Carter, Robbie Porteus)
2nd Place: HotSpot (Sunny Choi,Allie Paschal,Ethan Davey)
3rd Place: Bubble Buddy (Kristin Andreassen, Max Cohen, Jae Hyuk Kim)
