Lorenc+Yoo was retained by Hirsch Bedner & Associates in San Francisco to assist in creating a comprehensive wayfinding system for the 789-room Hyatt Regency at the San Francisco Airport. The hotel is owned by Host Corporation and the renovation was managed by JLL.
In the absence of any wayfinding signage, the challenge was to develop a completely new wayfinding system integrated into HBA’s interior design. Because these sorts of business hotels are used mostly by one-time visitors, the design team chose a clear and concise font for all of the graphics, with contrasting colors to facilitate easy reading.
Lorenc+Yoo designed a series of video information kiosks as well as individual meeting room signage and video screen enclosure, all of which adhered to the clean lines and right angles of the traditional signage.
Additionally, the entire wayfinding system is also now ADA- and California building code-compliant within all public spaces and ballrooms.
Now the Hyatt Regency at SFO works for everyone and appears better than ever.
