Designing an immersive urban development such as Vanke’s Opalus in Guangzhou, China requires creativity coupled with experimental discovery. eg magazine, published by the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) recently featured the design progression for Opalus in its Sketchbook feature.
“We always start by exploring many alternatives in hand sketch form, nearly always to scale,” writes Lorenc+Yoo principal Jan Lorenc. “We conceive the space that our sculptures live in, so that even the perspectives are close to the final installation result.”
