A new destination for fun-seekers in the South, Wind Creek Casino & Hotel in Atmore, Ala. decided to take a fresh approach to its signage program. Instead of the loud flashing lights and graphics common to many casinos, Wind Creek pays homage to Alabama’s natural landscape in tone, shape and color.

The Poarch Creek Indians developed the casino, and Lorenc+Yoo designed its exterior signage system to stay true to the identity they created.

The five-story landmark sign is capped with Wind Creek’s soft, curving signature wave-shaped canopy, and greets casino visitors as they approach the 225,000 square foot facility. Based on a short wall of dark brown stone, the main supporting column narrows as it rises, revealing a lantern at the top that serves as a beacon for visitors. A large television display sits beneath the casino’s logo, displaying images of the various amenities inside.

Lorenc+Yoo placed smaller directional signage throughout the parking lot to guide visitors efficiently, making additional use of stone, metal and punchy coloration.
